The Massachusetts Tree Wardens & Foresters Association, in cooperation with The University of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Conservation, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the the US Forest Service Urban Natural Resources Institute presents a new online educational series – Urban Forestry Today: An Online Learning Forum for Professionals and Tree Enthusiasts

featuring Susannah Lerman, Ph.D., University of Massachusetts/Amherst and USDA Forest Service, Amherst, MA

During this 1-hour webcast session, Dr. Lerman will discusses her latest research related to the increased interaction between people and wildlife in urban, suburban and interface areas.  Included in the presentation will be an overview of several ongoing projects that aim to collect scientific information, but also engage residents of urban settings as ‘citizen scientists’ who can play an active role in the research initiatives.  Dr. Lerman will outline some work that is now underway in Springfield, MA, which was impacted by a EF-3 tornado in June 2011.
