Pest Detection Tools for Urban Forests

This web-based instructional series will introduce IPED to you, help you understand its value as an important tool in your urban forest management toolkit and provide you with hands-on demonstrations related to the installation, use and reporting components of the software. IPED is the latest tool in the i-Tree software suite, which can be used to to survey the trees in your community for signs and symptoms of invasive pests and stresses. The IPED pest detection protocol can be used in your community to identify possible occurrences of exotic pests, stresses and diseases.  Additionally, IPED enables users to collect pest inventory data into a standardized form, enabling analysis of pest trends that are otherwise difficult to detect across geographic or political boundaries. For more information on IPED, please visit www.itreetools.org/.

The series begins Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 1:00 PM (Eastern) and continues for four consecutive Tuesdays at the same time.  The sessions will provide a in-depth examination of the IPED tools and provide the opportunity for exploring the software on your own between each session, in order to get the most out of the informational sessions.  There will be time devoted to Questions and Answers during the sessions, as well as an online discussion board for expanded conversation between workshop attendees.  Seating for the workshops is limited, and pre-registration is required for each session that you plan to attend.  It is recommended that you attend all of the workshop sessions in order to get the most out of the online workshop series.
