Please join UNRI for the upcoming e-Learning Webcast “Sustainable Urban Forest Management Planning Using Criteria and Indicators”, on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 11:00 AM (Eastern) with Philip van Wassenaer, B.Sc, MFC, Urban Forest Innovations Inc. , Mississauga, Ontario and Andy Kenney Ph.D., RPF, Faculty of Forestry , University of Toronto , Toronto, Ontario
This presentation will demonstrate a successful model for strategic urban forest management planning. The model incorporates critical aspects of active adaptive management for an integrated and comprehensive plan over a 20 year planning horizon. Building on the original work of Clark, Metheny, Cross and Wake in 1997, a revised and enhanced set of criteria and indicators is proposed as a guide to the plan development as well as tracking the success of its implementation. A case study of the Town of Oakville, Ontario, will be used to illustrate one application of the approach.
