“Emerald Ash Borer Host Mapping Project in Milwaukee: An Applied Model

This webcast will present an overview of the first known successful urban tree classification (ash) utilizing highly emergent hyperspectral imaging technology.  The work, undertaken  by the City of Milwaukee, WI in cooperation with federal and state agencies, as well as remote sensing experts, was completed in February 2009 with an overall ash classification accuracy of 84% and up to 93% accuracy for larger ash trees.  This project was fundamental to Milwaukee’s multi-faceted strategy for EAB readiness and response planning.  The webcast features David Sivyer, Forestry Services Manager for the City of Milwaukee and Ian Hanno, Project Manger for AMEC Earth and Enviromental.
