About

Thank you for your interest in the Urban Forestry Data Standards Initiative, which aims to develop an international set of data collection and reporting standards that can be used in the discipline of urban forestry. The standards will include research, management and planning components.

The Standards are being developed through a partnership of the IUFRO-Urban Forestry Working Group, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the USDA Forest Service, and the Urban Natural Resources Institute (UNRI).  Over 180 members are on the Standards Team, representing contributors from 14 countries, and all regions of the globe.

An initial draft version of the Standards that have been developed to date were presented by Dr. David Nowak (US Forest Service) to an audience of cooperators at the International Society of Arboriculture Annual Conference in Chicago, IL (USA) on July 27, 2010.

It is anticipated that the initial version of the Standards will be completed by mid-March, 2011.  For a listing of the project timeline, please click here.
