Background

The Electronic Tree Risk Assessment Calculator (E-TRAC) software provides a valuable addition to the Urban Tree Risk Management initiative developed by the US Forest Service, and its release is the direct result of requests from state and municipal users in the Northeast. Developed by the Forest Service Northeastern Area and the Urban Natural Resources Institute (UNRI), E-TRAC was introduced as a valuable tool to record the potential risk of trees in the urban landscape. Several revisions to the computer software, which contains a desktop component and a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) tool, have been made over the past several years. Release 1.1 provides users with the latest version of the software tools, incorporating modifiations based on actual field implementation and testing.

This site provides users with access to the initial release of the software, including the PDA tools and desktop computer application. Users are encouraged to download, install and field test the software. Your feedback is welcome, and we hope that you will not hesitate to let the development team know of any problems, suggestions or clarification to the software or supporting materials. Since this the initial release, there may be software bugs that you will find. Please direct any error messages or suggestions to the e-mail address found at the bottom of the left menubar.

This website allows the beta users to download the programs and the associated documents related to Release 1.5 of the E-TRAC software.
