Webcast Session – December 2nd – Trees & Urban Rainwater Management
Upcoming UNRI Webcast
“Incorporating Trees into Urban Rainwater Management Systems”
Wednesday, December 2, 2009, 11:00 AM (Eastern)
with Peter MacDonagh, Kestrel Design Group, Minneapolis, MN
The cost of using trees as a part of the rainwater management system requires significantly more investment per tree than is required to simply grow healthier trees. But a tree rainwater system is usually less costly to build and maintain than other engineering options when cost per unit volume of treated water is considered.
Urban foresters and arborists can be important initiators of the use of trees for rainwater management, but need more information to discuss options and make reasonable proposals during the budget and design stages of urban development. This session is intended to provide that basic understanding.
