Our Goals

Addressing critical issues

StreetUNRI provides a mechanism for the enhancing community natural resources stewardship in the Northeast. Our goals include improving coordination among research units and activities related to urban natural resources management, increasing the effective use of partnerships, enhancing educational opportunities, achieving excellence and serving a broader, more diverse constituency.

Achieving the goals

Providing assistance with science-based research initiatives in the region provides an opportunity to work toward successfully achieving the goals that UNRI has established for its strategic direction. Long term ecological research in urban areas, the development of management tools for local assessments, economic models, invasive species research, social science research, fragmentation and urban sprawl, invasive species research, urban forest health monitoring and data analysis provide the foundation for the Institute’s operation. Activities focusing on research, development and information dissemination of urban forestry topics assist partners and cooperators in achieving science-based solutions to strategic and operational challenges.
